About my area

I live in the heart of the beautiful agricultural area of Normandy with its rolling hills, rich dairy products, apple orchards and of course its famous cider and apple brandy. The Swiss Normandy which follows the river Orne is on the doorstep, with its stunning scenery, riverside cafes, hiking and water sports being a great tourist attraction. Caen and the port of Ouistreham are only an hour away and the station at Vire, (15km) has rail links to Paris and Granville. The area is also the home of WW2 history, with the D-Day landing beaches, monuments and museums. In all, a great place to live.

About me

After working in Turkey for a travel company I came to Normandy to visit my mother to contemplate my next move and to help her renovate her derelict old farmhouse into her dream home and gite business, I have ended up staying for 23 years! My three children were born here and are all in local schools and colleges we are well intergrated in our community with many French families but also have some great friends with other expat families. Mine and my daughter's passion is horses, we are lucky enough to be able to keep our own horses and have access to a network of breathtaking bridleways that can take you all the way to the Mont Saint Michel if desired! It is quite simply an ideal place to live and bring up children with the countryside on your doorstep.
